Valentine's Day, Paris and rain.
That's how I spent the morning of February 14th with Nancy and Steve.
I've lived in Paris for 6 years now and I must admit that I may underestimate the weather more often than I should. As a tried and true New Yorker, I know bad weather, and Paris rarely has it. The few times is does rain, it never lasts very long or rains very hard. So when Steve sent and email about the V-day weather forecast of grey skies and rain, my assistant told him not to worry and to bring an umbrella.
And 85% of the time, rain wouldn't be anything to worry about. Of course this time would be the exception to the rule. While getting ready for my Montmartre portrait session with Nancy and Steve, I glanced at the hour-by-hour forecast for the day. Rain was predicted to start at 10a.m., the same time our shoot was scheduled to start.
I arrived at the meeting point and was was soon joined by a lovey, smiling couple; holding an umbrella and, understandably, slightly apprehensive about how the shoot would unfold. I had done this enough times to know that photographically the rain would add to the session. Besides the way it felt, it wasn't actually raining hard enough to interfere with the shoot. This was not an easy thing to explain to a couple who was already a bit uncomfortable being photographed. So I decided to focus on the lightheartedness of the situation and try to keep those smiles for as long as I could.
The rain never let up and my lovely couple bravely endured the rain for as long as they could before calling it quits a bit early.
Luckily, I was able to get the shoots I wanted and knew that I'd have a few pleasant surprises to send them as their reward.
After all, Paris and love can sometimes be rainy, but sometimes all you need to get through a rainy day is someone beside you ... and maybe an umbrella.
Here are the some critical attractions that you must visit during your travel to Paris.

One of the most striking Paris attractions is the Eiffel tower, designed by Gustavo Eiffel, particularly for the 1889 world fair, and it stands at 300m, or 984 feet tall. However, today falls it's among the world’s frequently visited monuments. You can reach the first and second floors by stairway or the elevator will take you to the top for a magnificent view of the city.
Visit Paris Musee du Louvre
This is another very frequently visited venue, and even the major entrance to the Louvre is spectacular piece of art. However, you need to get your eyes off the Pyramid and inside where you'll find rich artistic history, from the code of Hammurabi, Egyptian mummies, Leonardo’s Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. The museum has transformed over the centuries, and has highlighted vast beauty of the human psychology all under one roof. Ideally, this is a potent symbol of finesse and French sensitivity to art.

This is another spectacular museum receiving more than 2.5 million visitors each year and has a large collection of impressionist’s artwork. The building itself dates back to 1900, and has transformed its uses to become a house rich in art. As cliche as is may be Paris, is truly the City of Romance. That's why so many couples still get engaged in this wonderful city. On average at the top of the Eiffel Tower, there are 9 proposals per hour. Maybe the best location in the world for a guaranteed, Yes!
Sadly all too often couples leave with a fleeting memory of a momentous moment in their lives.
It's the perfect time to have an engagement portrait session while you are in Paris. That's just what Darius thought when he contacted me.
While on their Paris vacation Darius decided to propose to his friend and have a surprise engagement session while they were here.
Now the beautiful bride-to-be has photos where she can always remember one of the most special moments of her life.
Most of the people I work with are passing though Paris for a short amount of time, so when I get to work with someone again, I get very excited. That was exactly the case when I got a call from the amazing Brian Scott Bagley who is a well known burlesque dancer in Paris.
I've seen him perform on a number of occasions and he is absolutely phenomenal. His inspiration is Josephine Baker and when you watch him perform, it's almost as if he's channeling her.
He recently finished a show for Louis Vuitton and for the performance they rented him a beautiful vintage police uniform. He had a bit of time before he had to give it back so he called me to see if he could book me last minute for a photo session in Montmartre.
How could I say no to such a great offer! So we scheduled a time to shoot in Montmartre and it was an amazing day. While he was dancing about we ended up with a crowd on on lookers.
It was great to see them enjoy Brian's big personality and to see the surprise on their faces when they noticed the shoes!
